Job summary

TechnipFMC in Evanton, Scotland, is seeking a Senior Discipline Engineer (Coatings) to provide expert knowledge of linepipe and field coating and support during tenders, documentation, and qualifications.

You will work with global teams to lead coating-related activities, audits, and improvement initiatives, ensuring compliance with AMPP/ICorr standards and qualification processes across projects.

Qualifications

  • Degree in an Engineering / Materials Science discipline or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of linepipe and field coating processes used in pipeline fabrication.
  • Knowledge of testing (non-destructive and destructive) used in pipeline fabrication.
  • Qualification of linepipe and field coating procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for all linepipe & field join coating requirements within Core Tech VSO Support.
  • Lead technical audits and ensure coating requirements are understood internally and externally.
  • Support tendering, documentation, and qualification activities.
  • Lead coating-related failure investigations and root cause analysis.
  • Identify and drive coating-related improvement projects across the organisation.

Job Purpose

Working within the global team Core Technologies team, the Senior Coating Engineer will provide expert knowledge of all aspects of linepipe & field coating, including relevant techniques and their application as well as support during tenders, preparation of documentation and overseeing qualifications.

Job Description

Responsible for all linepipe & field join coating requirements within the Core Tech VSO Support including R&D, standardisation, specification development, tendering, qualification, project execution and supplier support. Manager Insert

Work closely with Engineering, Sourcing and Supplier Quality - internally, regionally and globally - in ensuring a lead role in the provision of coating-related expertise as required, including taking a lead role in technical audits and ensuring coating requirements are developed with and fully understood both internally and externally.

Work closely with Sourcing and Supplier Quality to ensure that the coating-related aspects of qualification activities are effectively executed and support continuous development of existing and new processes for TechnipFMC.

Take a lead role in coating-related failure investigation and root cause analysis activities, ensuring they are managed, understood and resolved in a logical and timely manner.

Proactively work across the organisation to identify, drive and lead coating-related improvement projects and opportunities.

You are meant for this job if:
  • Degree in an Engineering / Materials Science discipline or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Knowledge and understanding of linepipe and field joint coating processes used in pipeline fabrication
  • Knowledge and understanding of testing non destructive and destructive testing used in pipeline fabrication
  • Qualification of linepipe and field joint coating procedures
  • Oversee mechanical testing
  • Preparation of documentation (ITPs, Application Procedures & Data Manual)
  • AMPP / ICorr / BGAS / CSWIP Certification
