Anglia Ruskin University is seeking a senior HR leader to steer employment policy, strategic employee relations and workforce governance across its diverse university community. Based across Chelmsford, Cambridge and Peterborough, this is a high-impact, full-time role reporting to the Chief People Officer.

You will develop modern, legally robust employment frameworks, advise executive teams and unions, and oversee pay, contracts and governance.

Competenze

• Substantial experience leading employment policy and employee relations in a complex organisation.
• Trusted employment-law expert capable of advising executive leaders and navigating collective bargaining.
• Excellent negotiation, consultation, analytical and communication skills.
• Strategic, commercially aware with integrity and discretion.
• Postgraduate study in HR, employment law or related field advantageous.
• Experience in higher education or regulated public sector welcomed.

• Shape, implement and continuously improve employment policies, contracts, terms and conditions, promotion arrangements and workforce frameworks.
• Build constructive relationships with recognised trade unions, oversee collective agreements and consultation processes, and provide authoritative advice on complex matters.
• Partner with senior colleagues to deliver major organisational change, translating employment law and sector developments into practical solutions.
• Produce high-quality papers and recommendations for senior committees and governing bodies with robust governance.
• Oversee pay and pensions policy, job evaluation and grading arrangements, plus use of external legal expertise.
• Coach leaders and HR colleagues, and use data, benchmarking and legal intelligence to identify risks and priorities.
