Job summary

AJ Chambers in Brighton is seeking a commercially minded Director of Accounts to lead and grow our Accounts practice. You will take ownership of a diverse portfolio of owner-managed businesses and act as a trusted adviser to clients.

This senior role combines client leadership with business development, strategic input on profitability, and the ability to influence and develop a growing team. You will balance technical delivery with commercial leadership and key stakeholder management.

Qualifications

• Experience as a Director/leader in an Accountancy Practice.
• Proven ability to manage a portfolio of owner-managed businesses (OMBs).
• Ability to win new business and grow existing accounts.
• Commercial drive with a focus on profitability.
• Experience in leading and developing teams.
• Confident operating at director level and advising on strategy.

Responsibilities

• Lead and grow portfolio of owner-managed businesses.
• Drive business development and convert opportunities into long-term partnerships.
• Influence business strategy as a Senior Leadership Team member.
• Lead and inspire team, developing talent and setting high standards.
