Job summary

AECOM invites applications for a Technical Director / Associate Director in Ground Engineering across the UK. You will lead technical development, strengthen capabilities, and grow the business by building strong client relationships.

Hybrid work options are available across the UK. We seek Chartered, highly capable engineers with UK ground conditions knowledge, design code familiarity, and a passion for developing leaders within the team.

Qualifications

• Degree in Civil Engineering or Engineering Geology with 2:1 or higher.
• MSc/MEng in Soil Mechanics or Geotechnical Engineering advantageous.
• Chartered status.
• Strong knowledge of UK ground conditions and ground investigation practices.
• Understanding of current design codes and best practices in geotechnical design.
• Ability to collaborate across project delivery and client satisfaction.
• Strong networking to promote AECOM in local, regional and national markets.

Responsibilities

• Oversee input, peer review and verification of geotechnical data and analyses and design calculations.
• Provide consultative advice during all project stages, including site-selection and optioneering, design and construction.
• Manage or oversee geotechnical projects with planning, scheduling and budget control.
• Lead and mentor the Ground Engineering team to deliver projects on time and to quality expectations.
• Maintain industry presence and build relationships to ensure a steady project pipeline.
• Collaborate with Ground Engineering, Tunnelling, Transport, Water, Energy and Buildings teams on project works and tenders.
• Mentor junior team members and provide development support.

Education

Bachelor/Master level degree (2:1) in Civil Engineering or Engineering Geology/Geology

MSc/MEng in Soil Mechanics or Geotechnical Engineering or Engineering Geology
