Ground Engineering Director | Lead & Grow Geotech Projects

Job summary

AECOM is expanding its Ground Engineering team in the UK and seeks a Technical Director / Associate Director to drive the technical development of the practice while strengthening client relationships and leading multi-disciplinary projects.

You will oversee geotechnical data and design work, mentor junior staff, and collaborate across Transport, Water, Energy and Buildings domains to deliver complex schemes with a focus on safety, quality and value.

Qualifications

• Degree in Civil Engineering or Engineering Geology/Geology with a 2:1 classification (or equivalent) or higher.
• An MSc/MEng in Soil Mechanics, Geotechnical Engineering or Engineering Geology is advantageous.
• Chartered status.
• Strong knowledge of UK ground conditions and ground investigation practices.
• Understanding of current design codes, standards and best practices in geotechnical design.
• Ability to collaborate in project delivery, work winning and client satisfaction.
• Ability to develop and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Oversee input, peer review and verification of geotechnical data and analyses and design calculations.
• Provide consultative advice to external partners during all project life-cycle stages.
• Manage geotechnical projects including planning schedules, coordination and budgets.
• Lead and support the Ground Engineering team to meet time and quality expectations.
• Maintain relationships with past, current and prospective customers to feed opportunities.
• Take the Ground Engineering lead for multi-disciplinary project delivery.
• Collaborate with Transport, Water, Energy and Buildings teams on project works and tenders.
• Mentor and develop junior team members with appropriate guidance.
