Job summary

Northern Trust is seeking an Senior Risk Management Specialist focused on Digital Assets and blockchain technology. The role oversees risk across DLT, custody solutions, and tokenisation projects, coordinating with Legal, Compliance, and IT to ensure governance and risk controls are robust.

Ideal candidates hold 7–10+ years in risk management within financial services, with strong knowledge of blockchain ecosystems and regulatory landscapes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Finance, Risk Management, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
• 7–10+ years of experience in Risk Management, Operational Risk, Technology Risk or Digital Assets within financial services.
• Strong understanding of blockchain technologies, distributed ledger systems, digital asset ecosystems.
• Experience assessing operational, technology, cyber, third‑party, and regulatory risks in complex environments.
• Knowledge of global regulatory frameworks for digital assets and blockchain technologies.
• Certifications such as FRM, CRISC, CISA or CBSP are advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Identify and assess risks across blockchain protocols, digital assets, tokenisation, and smart contracts.
• Develop and maintain risk management framework for Digital Asset risks; align with enterprise risk management.
• Provide regulatory risk guidance and support for compliance readiness.
• Produce KRIs, risk reporting, and insights for senior management and regulators.
• Collaborate with IT, Security, Legal, and Compliance to manage controls and governance.
