Job summary

Northern Trust is seeking an experienced risk professional to lead oversight of Digital Assets and blockchain-related risks. You will identify, assess and mitigate risks across custody, tokenisation, smart contracts, and DeFi initiatives, while aligning with regulatory expectations and firm governance.

The role requires strong risk management experience, knowledge of blockchain technologies and collaboration with Legal, Compliance, IT, and business units to maintain risk appetite.

Qualifications

• Strong understanding of blockchain technologies, distributed ledger systems, and digital asset ecosystems.
• Experience assessing operational, technology, cyber, third-party, and regulatory risks within complex financial services environments.
• Knowledge of global regulatory frameworks and supervisory expectations relating to digital assets and blockchain technologies.
• Ability to translate complex technical risks into clear business-focused recommendations for senior stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Identify, assess, monitor and mitigate risks across Digital Assets and blockchain technologies.
• Develop and enhance the Digital Asset Risk Management Framework and integrate it into enterprise risk management.
• Provide regulatory guidance and ensure readiness for evolving supervisory expectations.
• Prepare risk reporting and KRIs for senior management and regulatory stakeholders.
• Collaborate with Legal, Compliance, IT, and business units to maintain risk governance and risk appetite alignment.
