Job summary

Devopsroles is seeking a DevOps Engineer / Senior DevOps Engineer in Newcastle, offering a 12-month fixed-term contract with potential to convert to permanent. Roles at two experience levels involve building environments, tooling and automated processes for secure software delivery, with three days on site and two remote days.

You’ll configure CI/CD pipelines, manage infrastructure as code, and support cloud platforms and container technologies, while senior engineers lead workstreams and advise

Qualifications

• Experience with at least one public or private cloud platform.
• Hands-on knowledge of CI/CD tools and practices.
• Infrastructure-as-code experience with Terraform, CloudFormation or AWS CDK.
• Exposure to configuration management tools such as Ansible, Puppet or Chef.
• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift or similar container technologies.
• Scripting ability in Python, Node.js, TypeScript, PowerShell, Bash or a comparable language.
• For the upper end of the range, experience leading technical work, influencing stakeholders or improving platform strategy.

Responsibilities

• Deliver environments and tools that support software development and testing.
• Configure and maintain CI/CD and quality tooling such as GitLab, Jenkins, SonarQube and automated testing platforms.
• Automate infrastructure, integrations and delivery processes using infrastructure as code and scripting.
• Support cloud platforms, containerised workloads and orchestration technologies.
• Improve platform reliability, security, observability and delivery performance.
• At the more experienced level, provide technical leadership, identify delivery risks, define platform requirements and guide teams on DevOps best practice.
