Job summary

Government Digital & Data is seeking a Senior DevOps Engineer to shape and lead secure, scalable AWS infrastructure across the Digital Planning Programme. You will build, operate and improve platform capabilities, focusing on reliability, security and cost efficiency.

You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, implement automated CI/CD pipelines and champion reusable templates, driving engineering excellence and secure-by-default ways of working across the programme.

Qualifications

• Designing, building and operating secure AWS-based infrastructure and services.
• Using Terraform to manage infrastructure as code and state.
• Designing and maintaining CI/CD workflows.
• Applying cloud-security practices including IAM, secrets handling and automated checks.
• Observability, incident response, recovery, capacity planning and resilience.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, operate and improve shared cloud infrastructure and platform capabilities on AWS.
• Build and maintain automated, auditable CI/CD workflows and infrastructure as code.
• Create, document and promote reusable templates and delivery patterns across teams.
• Embed security, observability, resilience, backup and incident response in live services.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to improve reliability and reduce costs.
• Provide technical leadership across teams and coaching to engineers and suppliers.
• Improve developer experience with self-service tooling and secure-by-default practices.
