What Is the Opportunity?

We’re seeking a Senior Development Underwriter to grow our Professions book. You will work with senior team members to set strategy, write new and renewal business, collaborate across regions, and mentor junior underwriters. Travelers Europe offers flexible hybrid working arrangements. This role includes a £2,500 new joiner bonus, with potential referral bonuses.

What Will You Do?

1. Underwrite and assess risks from assigned brokers, making decisions within your authority.
2. Underwrite complex accounts, considering various approaches to maximize profitability.
3. Make prompt, sound decisions and negotiate terms within standards and timeframes.
4. Understand and implement segment strategies to meet budget goals.
5. Manage your book of business, ensuring quality and compliance.
6. Maintain accurate documentation and adhere to standards.
7. Collaborate with internal teams and build broker relationships.
8. Develop sales plans, identify new business opportunities, and cross-sell products.
9. Act as a business partner with brokers and clients, fostering relationships.
10. Participate in regional meetings and uphold customer service standards.
11. Work strategically with brokers to meet objectives.
12. Act ethically, comply with regulations, and maintain transaction records.
13. Perform other duties as assigned.

What Will Our Ideal Candidate Have?

• University degree and/or CII Advanced Certification or Diploma preferred.
• Knowledge of industry operations, market, and financial drivers.
• Understanding of local insurance marketplace.
• Ability to build relationships and use market insights.
• Intermediate skills in relationship management, business perspective, and financial analysis.
• Technical proficiency in underwriting, making sound pricing decisions.
