QAA is the UK’s independent quality body for tertiary education. Our purpose is to ensure that students and learners experience the highest possible quality of education.
We are the UK’s authority on quality and standards, acting as custodian on behalf of the sector of reference points including the UK Quality Code for Higher Education, Subject Benchmark Statements, and the Frameworks for Higher Education Qualifications.
We work with governments, funding bodies and education providers across the UK and internationally to support and enhance quality and standards. In Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, we work collaboratively with the sector to meet the needs of each nation. In England, our membership programme provides resources and support to strategic leads, quality specialists and students and learners alike.
Internationally, we are recognised as one of the world's leading quality bodies, supporting the reputation and reach of UK tertiary education through global partnerships and transnational education.
We're looking for a Senior Developer to join our IT and Digital Services team on a 12-month fixed-term contract, covering a period of maternity leave from December 2026.
Our websites and business systems are how the sector, our members and the public access QAA's guidance, resources and services. You will also help maintain a range of internally focused systems. Your main focus will be web development on our .NET and Next.js content management platform: building new features, improving existing pages and integrations, and resolving issues quickly. You'll also support our wider business systems, including Microsoft Dynamics.
You'll work closely with the rest of the IT and Digital Services team as well as colleagues across the agency, turning business needs into practical technical solutions and making sure our systems are well documented and resilient. It's a great opportunity to make a visible impact quickly in an organisation at the heart of UK tertiary education.
You're an experienced developer who can pick up unfamiliar systems and codebases and become productive quickly. We'd like to hear how you've done this before, whether through contract work, joining established teams or taking on existing applications.
You'll bring:
Experience of Microsoft Dynamics 365 or the Power Platform would be a real advantage, as would familiarity with SQL Server, SharePoint or Salesforce.
Just as important is how you work. You're proactive and organised, able to balance support issues with development work, and comfortable explaining technical matters clearly to colleagues who aren't technical. You document what you do, share knowledge readily and enjoy being part of a collaborative, remote-first team.
We are a UK based remote first agency built on trust and flexibility, where we focus on outcomes rather than location. This supports strong delivery, collaboration and colleague wellbeing.
While most work is carried out remotely, there are occasional opportunities to come together in person for collaboration, engagement or specific activities where this adds value.
The closing date for applications is 31 October 2026.
