Job summary

SR2 is seeking a Senior Developer for a Defence Programme with active DV clearance. The role is London-based with three days on site per week, contract through March 2027 with extensions possible.

The project involves building an AI-enabled tasking and workflow platform, moving from Discovery into Alpha, and shaping the system architecture rather than maintenance. You will join a cross-functional team of engineers from multiple suppliers and an AI engineering capability, delivering

Senior Developer - Defence Programme (DV Cleared)

Location: London, 3 days per week on site
Duration: ASAP start. Contract initially till March 2027 with extensions to follow
Rate: £600 - 625 per day, Inside IR35
Clearance: Active DV mandatory

The role

A senior developer is needed to provide technical leadership on the delivery of an AI-enabled tasking and workflow platform for a Defence programme. The application is moving out of Discovery into early Alpha, so you'll be shaping the build rather than maintaining someone else's.

You'll work in a mixed team of engineers from several suppliers, alongside a dedicated AI engineering capability. The platform combines Python/FastAPI services, React and TypeScript interfaces, Camunda workflow orchestration, modular services, data persistence, and integration with existing Defence tasking processes.

Despite the AI-enabled focus of the platform, this is primarily a software engineering role.
