Job summary

Jagex: The RuneScape Company in Cambridge, UK is seeking a Senior Detection & Response Engineer to enhance our security monitoring and incident response across studio and gaming environments. You will own escalated investigations, drive root cause analysis, and develop tooling, detection logic, and automation to improve response times.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience investigating security incidents and determining root cause.
• Strong knowledge of SIEM and security monitoring tooling; ability to write complex queries.
• Understanding of adversary TTPs and MITRE ATT&CK framework.
• Practical knowledge of cloud environments and security controls in hybrid infra.
• Background in detection logic, runbooks, automation or security tooling; scripting (PowerShell/Python) helpful.
• Knowledge of Windows, macOS, or Linux for forensic investigations.

Responsibilities

• Lead investigations into escalated security events and incidents.
• Develop and optimise detection rules and monitoring logic across environments.
• Build tooling and automation to improve telemetry, enrichment, and response times.
• Conduct threat hunting using MITRE ATT&CK concepts; integrate findings into controls.
• Create and improve incident runbooks and playbooks based on real investigations.
• Collaborate with external SOC and internal teams to enhance monitoring coverage.
• Participate in on-call rotation.
