Job summary

Jagex in Cambridge, UK is seeking a Senior Detection & Response Engineer to strengthen our cyber security capabilities across our gaming environments. You will own escalated investigations, determine impact and drive effective responses while contributing to tooling and automation.

You’ll work across hybrid environments with external SOC partners to improve detection coverage and incident response, including on-call rotation.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience investigating security incidents
• Strong knowledge of SIEM and security monitoring tooling
• Understanding of adversary TTPs and MITRE ATT&CK principles
• Practical knowledge of cloud environments and security controls
• Background in detection logic, runbooks, automation or security tooling
• Scripting knowledge such as PowerShell or Python is advantageous
• Knowledge of Windows/macOS/Linux forensics

Responsibilities

• Lead investigations into escalated security events and incidents, developing hypotheses, collecting evidence and determining root cause and impact
• Build and optimise detection rules, queries and monitoring logic across cloud, endpoint, network and application environments
• Develop tooling and automation to improve security telemetry, alert enrichment, investigation workflows and response times
• Conduct threat hunting using adversary behaviours, TTPs and MITRE ATT&CK, informing security controls and detections
• Create and continuously improve incident runbooks, playbooks and detection processes
• Collaborate with external SOC and internal teams to strengthen monitoring coverage and incident response
• Participation in on-call rotation is required
