Job summary

Lloyds Banking Group in Leeds is looking for a Detection & Response Engineer within our Cyber Defence Centre to protect the organisation from evolving cyber threats. You will lead investigations, analyse attacker behaviour, and use automation and AI to strengthen detection and response capabilities, with opportunities to coach colleagues and contribute to threat hunting.

This is a hybrid role with on-call duties and a strong focus on collaboration across teams.

Qualifications

• Experience investigating security incidents within a SOC or similar environment.
• Expertise analysing attacker behaviour, security events and threat intelligence to support detection and response outcomes.
• Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills for complex situations.
• Experience influencing technical outcomes through collaboration and knowledge sharing.
• Experience coaching or mentoring technical colleagues.
• Excellent written and verbal communication for technical and non-technical audiences.

Responsibilities

• Lead complex investigations into security alerts, incidents and emerging threats, driving containment, eradication and recovery actions.
• Analyse security events, attacker behaviours and threat intelligence to identify risks and determine response actions.
• Undertake threat hunting, forensic investigations and proactive cyber defence activities.
• Improve cyber defence capabilities through continuous detection and response activities.
• Use automation, AI and modern security tooling to improve efficiency and effectiveness of detection and response engineering.
• Coach and support colleagues, sharing expertise and lessons learned to develop team capability.
• Participate in an on-call rota for a small number of weeks each year.
