Job summary

Marchant Recruitment is helping a high-performing secondary school in Croydon find a Designated Safeguarding Lead to oversee safeguarding and child protection across the school.

The role requires previous school-based safeguarding experience, ideally as a DSL or DDSL in a secondary setting, and a strong knowledge of KCSIE. You will work with senior leaders, families and external agencies to manage referrals and ensure compliance.

Qualifications

• Previous school-based safeguarding experience is essential.
• Experience as Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) or Deputy DSL in a secondary setting.
• Strong knowledge of Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE) and safeguarding procedures.

Responsibilities

• Lead safeguarding and child protection across the school.
• Manage referrals and safeguarding concerns.
• Maintain accurate safeguarding records.
• Oversee a caseload of vulnerable students.
• Collaborate with social care and external agencies.
• Provide safeguarding training and guidance to staff.
• Ensure statutory safeguarding compliance.
• Prepare and participate in safeguarding meetings and strategy discussions.
