Job summary

Marchant Recruitment is helping a high-performing secondary school in Croydon find a Designated Safeguarding Lead to oversee safeguarding and child protection across the school.

The role requires previous school-based safeguarding experience, ideally as a DSL or DDSL in a secondary setting, and a strong knowledge of KCSIE. You will work with senior leaders, families and external agencies to manage referrals and ensure compliance.

Qualifications

• Previous school-based safeguarding experience is essential.
• Experience as Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) or Deputy DSL in a secondary setting.
• Strong knowledge of Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE) and safeguarding procedures.

Responsibilities

A high-performing secondary school in Croydon is seeking an experienced Designated Safeguarding Lead to take responsibility for safeguarding and child protection across the school.

Previous school-based safeguarding experience is essential, ideally as a DSL or experienced DDSL within a secondary setting.

You’ll work closely with senior leaders, pastoral staff, families and external agencies to ensure safeguarding concerns are identified, managed and followed up appropriately.

The Role

Leading safeguarding and child protection across the school

Managing safeguarding referrals and concerns

Maintaining accurate safeguarding records

Managing a caseload of vulnerable students

Working with social care and external agencies

Making referrals where appropriate

Supporting safeguarding meetings and strategy discussions

Providing safeguarding guidance to staff

Coordinating safeguarding training

Ensuring the school remains compliant with statutory requirements

About You

You’ll need excellent knowledge of Keeping Children Safe in Education, strong communication skills and the confidence to deal with sensitive and complex situations.

DSL training and experience working with social care, early help, Prevent and child protection procedures are essential.
