Job summary

OCU Group, a leading design and delivery firm, is seeking an experienced Design Project Manager in Borehamwood to lead design delivery across complex power and renewable energy projects in the UK.

You will work with Design, Engineering, Construction and Pre-Construction teams to drive safe, efficient delivery, manage design programmes, and mentor engineers. The role requires a degree in engineering, chartered status desirable, and willingness to travel to project sites.

Qualifications

• Degree-qualified (BEng or MEng) in Electrical, Civil, or Mechanical Engineering.
• Significant experience in both Design Engineering and Design Management in power/energy projects.
• Full UK Driving Licence and willingness to travel to project sites.
• Knowledge of CDM 2015 and project controls.

Responsibilities

• Manage design deliverables and activities across large power/renewable energy projects.
• Develop and maintain design programmes and WBS across lifecycles.
• Ensure compliance with client processes, employer requirements, and industry standards.
• Act as primary contact for design matters between clients, subcontractors, and teams.
• Forecast and coordinate design, surveying, and digital engineering resources.
• Champion Safety by Design, sustainability, and continuous improvement.
• Manage design-related project controls (TQs, EWNs, CEs, RFIs).
• Support development of tender submissions and execution plans during pre-construction.
• Coordinate temporary works and construction design with PMs and Site Teams.
• Lead design review meetings and ensure stakeholders use latest information.
• Support internal design capability and governance across OCU.
• Mentor Graduate/Assistant/Senior Engineers.
