About Our Client

This opportunity has been created within the design management function of a privately owned main contractor with a proven track record of delivering affordable new build residential schemes within London & the South East. Their office is in East London and they operate a hybrid model split between time in the office and on site.

Job Description

As the Senior Design Manager, you will play a key role throughout all construction activities. Your responsibilities will include client reporting, design coordination, and engagement with the build team. Your key responsibilities will be:

• Managing the design process with a focus on commercial, contractual, programme/time awareness, and technical expertise
• Leading all client interactions, including clear reporting, design programme management, and change control procedures
• Ensuring the design process complies with current legislation, standards, and codes of practice
• Maintaining high-quality design information aligned with project timelines
• Striving to eliminate health and safety risks in design and financial risks during construction
• Ensuring compliance with safety standards and regulations

The Successful Applicant

The ideal Senior Design Manager should have:

• An architectural background (ARB/RIBA qualified or Technologist)
• A proven track record managing design processes for large-scale, RC frame new build residential projects
• Experience within a main contractor environment with responsibilities in design fee/budget management, client reporting, and coordination during delivery
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to engage effectively with various stakeholders

You must have the right to work in the UK and be comfortable based in East London with some travel to sites as required.

• A salary range of £85,000 - £95,000 GBP per annum
