Job summary

Walker & Sloan Ltd is recruiting a Senior Design Manager to lead the design management for a flagship hyperscale data centre project in Acton, West London. You will drive the design strategy, coordinate cross‑disciplinary teams and ensure designs meet programme, cost and quality targets.

The role requires extensive experience in large-scale construction within a main contractor environment, strong governance and stakeholder engagement capabilities, and a degree in a construction/engineering

Qualifications

• Significant experience leading design delivery on large-scale construction projects.
• Ability to manage multidisciplinary consultant teams from bid stage through completion.
• Strong understanding of design governance, technical compliance, contractual obligations and programme management.
• Passion for buildability, innovation and value engineering while focusing on quality and client satisfaction.
• Chartered status or professional membership (RIBA/CIOB/ICE) advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design management strategy across the project.
• Coordinate design activities to ensure compliance, commercially robust outcomes and alignment with programme objectives.
• Oversee multidisciplinary design teams, manage technical risk and drive value engineering.
• Influence procurement and construction activities while maintaining governance and stakeholder engagement.
