Job summary

Sphere Solutions is recruiting a Senior Design Manager to lead the design function on major construction projects, including data centres and Defence sectors. You will direct multidisciplinary teams, align design with programmes and commercial aims, and drive value engineering and compliance throughout delivery.

Based at Corsham with hybrid working, the role requires a robust background in design management, client liaison, and regulatory knowledge.

Qualifications

• Degree in Construction or Engineering, or equivalent.
• Professional membership (RIBA/CIOB/ICE) or equivalent.
• Chartered status is desirable.
• SMSTS certification completes the standard.
• CSCS Black Card preferred for site access.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design management function on major construction projects.
• Manage multidisciplinary design teams through all project phases.
• Develop and implement design delivery strategies.
• Coordinate design activities to support procurement and construction programmes.
• Drive value engineering and design optimisation initiatives.
• Manage design risk, change control and technical compliance.
• Lead design reviews, workshops and client meetings.
• Ensure designs comply with contractual, statutory and regulatory requirements.
• Mentor and develop Design Managers within the business.
• Promote best practice, innovation and continuous improvement across design management.
