The Opportunity

My client, a leading main contractor specialising in residential construction, is seeking an experienced Senior Design Manager to join their growing team. This is an exceptional opportunity to oversee design delivery across multiple large-scale social and affordable housing schemes for various housing associations across sites inside the M25.

The Role

Reporting into senior leadership, you will be responsible for managing a team of Design Managers across various high-rise RC frame developments. This role offers genuine progression potential, with a tangible pathway to a Head of Design position in the future.

Key Responsibilities

• Leading and mentoring a team of Design Managers
• Ensuring compliance with Gateway 2 submissions and BSR (Building Safety Regulator) requirements under BS2022
• Managing design programmes and stakeholder engagement with housing associations
• Driving design excellence and buildability across all schemes

The Ideal Candidate

• Proven experience managing design teams within a main contracting environment
• Strong background in residential construction, particularly social/affordable housing
• Extensive knowledge of high-rise RC frame construction
• Experience with Gateway 2 submissions and BSR requirements under the Building Safety Act 2022 (highly advantageous)
• Excellent leadership and communication skills
