Job summary

Siemens Mobility in Chippenham is recruiting a Lead Design Manager to oversee the regional signalling design function. You will drive delivery across diverse projects, shaping priorities and aligning resources with workload to ensure safety, quality, and cost targets.

Reporting to the Regional Engineering Manager, you will inspire design teams in Chippenham and Newport, champion safety and governance, and travel as needed to maintain a visible presence with project teams across the region.

Qualifications

• Experience in project engineering and systems engineering.
• Delivery of safety-critical or safety-related real-time systems.
• Strong leadership and people-management track record.
• Ability to plan resources and manage cross-disciplinary teams.
• Experience with UK signalling schemes is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Lead regional design engineering portfolio across multiple projects.
• Provide visible leadership to design managers and teams.
• Own regional resource and capability planning and risk mitigation.
• Drive performance development, coaching, and succession planning.
• Champion engineering safety and governance across design lifecycle.
• Collaborate with project and engineering leaders to align priorities.
