Job summary

Siemens Mobility is hiring a Lead Design Manager to join the Chippenham facility and oversee regional signalling design. You will lead design engineering teams, set priorities, allocate work, and ensure delivery across a diverse project portfolio with a strong emphasis on safety and governance.

You will report to the Regional Engineering Manager and lead through change while travelling to maintain presence with teams in Chippenham and Newport.

Qualifications

• IRSE Engineering Manager’s licence is required.
• Significant leadership experience leading large, multidisciplinary teams.
• Experience delivering signalling or safety-critical systems in the UK.
• Ability to lead cross-disciplinary engineering delivery across complex projects.

Responsibilities

• Lead regional design engineering portfolio and allocate work packages and resources across multiple projects to meet safety, time, quality and cost commitments.
• Provide clear, visible leadership to Design Managers and the wider design community; travel may be required to maintain presence with teams.
• Own regional resource and capability planning; maintain workload plans, identify risks and address skill gaps.
• Build and develop a high-performing team through coaching, mentoring and performance management.
• Champion safety and technical assurance across the design lifecycle and ensure governance is applied consistently.
• Partner with project and engineering leaders to align design priorities with regional and business objectives.
