Job summary

Severn Trent is seeking a Senior Design Engineer (Mechanical, Civil or Process) based in Raynesway, Derby, to lead projects from feasibility to detailed design within our wastewater assets and bioresources team. You will shape strategies, collaborate with stakeholders and drive innovative treatment options while ensuring safe, robust designs across the asset lifecycle.

Qualifications

• Degree-qualified engineer with professional institution membership or working towards chartered status.
• Strong stakeholder management skills with internal and external partners.
• Full UK driving licence required and willingness to travel as needed.

Responsibilities

• Sewage treatment assets - understand existing assets and design outline for new assets.
• Develop strategies to enhance assets and inform regulatory submissions.
• Undertake self-led research on emerging technologies for new treatment options.
• Promote waste treatment capital maintenance with evidence-based understanding of site performance.
• Provide tactical support to operational teams to maintain service quality.
• Ensure health and safety is integrated into the design lifecycle.
• Review potential delivery and operational risks (H&S, environment, commissioning).
