Job summary

A leading motorcycle manufacturer is seeking a Senior Design Engineer specialized in Powertrain to develop CAD models and technical drawings. This hybrid role involves collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to design high-performance motorcycle systems, requiring a strong understanding of mechanical principles and CAD tools. Ideal candidates will have a degree in Mechanical Engineering, substantial industry experience, and a passion for engineering excellence.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of CAD design experience in the automotive or motorcycle industry.
• Strong understanding of powertrain systems and mechanical design principles.
• Experience with GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing).

Location: Hybrid from Solihull

Position:

Senior Design Engineer - Powertrain

Type:

Contract, 45 hours per week

Company:

A well-established high-performance motorcycle manufacturer

Responsibilities:

• Develop 3D CAD models and 2D technical drawings of powertrain components (e.g., engine cases, cylinder heads, crankshafts, transmission gears, covers, intakes, and exhausts)
• Create assemblies and integrate them into complete motorcycle models, ensuring compatibility and packaging feasibility
• Support the design and development of internal combustion engines and hybrid/electric powertrains
• Perform tolerance stack-ups, material selection, and design for manufacturability (DFM)
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including manufacturing, testing, procurement, and vehicle integration
• Conduct design reviews and implement feedback from simulation, validation, and prototype testing

Qualifications:

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
• 3+ years of CAD design experience in the automotive or motorcycle industry
• Proficiency with PTC Creo
• Strong understanding of powertrain systems and mechanical design principles
• Experience with GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing)
• Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment
