Job summary

Severn Trent is seeking a Senior Design Engineer to lead the design of technical solutions for the mains renewal programme. You will provide input from feasibility through to detailed design, construction, testing and handover, coordinating with internal and external stakeholders.

You will mentor junior engineers, review feasibility studies and ensure design standards and safety are embedded in every stage of the project lifecycle. A full driving license and proactive collaboration are essential.

Qualifications

• The role requires experience in designing technical solutions for mains renewal projects.
• Experience with feasibility assessments, design processes and project delivery.
• Ability to mentor junior engineers and collaborate with stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Agree design milestones with the Mains Renewal Programme Team.
• Define approaches for mains renewal programmes with cost-effective methods.
• Conduct high-level feasibility and conceptual design reviews.
• Proactively manage design risk and maintain risk registers.
• Act as Principal Designer under CDM regulations.
• Mentor and upskill the design team.
• Ensure health and safety is integrated into design lifecycle.
