Job summary

Johnson Controls, Inc. seeks a Fire and/or Security Design Engineer. You will design and price fire detection and security systems to meet BS standards, using AutoCAD/Revit as needed, and manage design from tender through to installation.

The role emphasizes commercial awareness and customer-ready technology solutions. Hybrid work is available. The ideal candidate has 5+ years in Fire or Security systems, strong communication, and stakeholder management skills.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years’ experience in Fire OR Security systems.
• UK resident for the past 5 years and security clearance eligible.

Responsibilities

Fire and/or Security Design Engineer

What You Will Do

Design and price fire detection, life safety, or security systems to meet standards such as BS5839-1, MOJ specifications, BS7273, and BS6266. Understanding networking principles is essential for interconnected systems. Designs may use AutoCAD/Revit and other software for complete systems or modifications to existing. You’ll manage technical aspects of design from tender through to installation demonstrating commercial awareness and presenting technology solutions to customers.

• Showcase technical knowledge and commercial awareness during planning.
• Navigate ambiguity, meet deadlines, and manage change effectively.

What We Look For

Required

• Lived in the UK for the past 5 years (security clearance required)
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in Fire OR Security systems
• Ability to manage stakeholders at all levels
• Experience in fast-paced, collaborative environments
• Excellent communication skills to convey technical info clearly
