Sterling Recruitment Services are looking to recruit a Senior Design Engineer for our growing client based in Leeds.
Working hours:
8am - 5pm, Monday to Friday

Role Summary:
The role will require you to develop designs for tunnels and shafts construction in the UK and internationally. You will have a fundamental understanding of Geotechnical properties for underground construction as well structural design capability. All tunnel design requires an assessment of the impact of tunnelling activity on other third-party assets and thus require third party approvals. Good report writing skills is expected with a sound understanding of the design processes to report and present designs to statutory authorities such as National Highways or Network Rail and the like.
Typical application:
Shaft design, including buoyant stability, jacking collars, reinforced concrete bases, tremie plugs, cover slabs opening support structures
Tunnel designs for Timber Headings, Micro-tunnelling/Pipe-jacking,
HDD design
Thrust walls, head walls, launch frames, pipeline proof loads
Excavation Stability and support, with a thorough understanding of geotechnical principals for shoring techniques and design of sheet piles & frames, PC modular units, king post etc.
Earth work stability slope stability analysis, soil nailing
Crane platforms.
Tunnelling impact assessments
Prerequisite Requirements:
Bachelor or Master level in a Civil / Geotechnical or Geology based engineering
Duties & Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Produce Geotechnical and structural Design
Report writing
Progress reports
All manner of assistance for the Senior management team
Work as part of team
Mentor junior members of the team
