ROLE: Senior Design Engineer

LOCATION: Bristol

TERM: Permanent

SALARY: £45,000 - £52,000 per annum, dependent on experience (please specify your expectations)

My client operates within the engineering sector and is seeking a Senior Design Engineer with leadership responsibilities for a permanent position in the Bristol area.

The ideal candidate will have:

1. Degree qualification or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering, Product Design, or Design Engineering
2. At least 10 years of experience in a similar design role, with recent team management or leadership experience
3. Proficiency in CAD software such as SolidWorks
4. Design, development, and project experience in a manufacturing environment
5. A portfolio of previous work to share
6. Hands-on engineering skills such as turning and milling (desirable)
7. Experience with medical products (advantageous but not essential)
8. Good knowledge of materials like injection-moulded plastics
9. Excellent verbal and written communication skills
10. Strong organizational skills

The responsibilities of the Senior Design Engineer include:

1. Working within the R&D team to design and develop new products
2. Participating in the NPD phase
3. Developing products from prototypes to production
4. Meeting budget and deadlines
5. Testing prototypes
6. Creating CAD drawings and BOMs
7. Collaborating with customers and suppliers as needed
8. Leading and mentoring junior Design Engineers
9. Managing multiple projects effectively
