I am working closely with my Bedford-based client to find a Senior Design Engineer to join their in-house team.

You will be designing engine components, assemblies, and packages to retrofit onto their fleet of engines in service. Additionally, you will provide technical support to the business to resolve customer issues and contribute to ongoing and upcoming projects.

Initially joining as a Senior Design Engineer, there is potential for internal progression to the position of Chief Engineer in the future.

Your key responsibilities will be:

1. Develop design solutions from initial brief by creating layouts, verified through calculations including FEA techniques where appropriate.
2. Produce manufacturing drawings, including assemblies and specifications of the final design.
3. Manage product realization, including manufacturing aspects, to achieve the most effective design.
4. Define and control product build specifications to ensure database accuracy.
5. Oversee engineering changes and authorize concessions for nonconforming products.
6. Provide technical engineering support across various departments.
7. Manage in-service product safety incidents, including risk analysis and reporting.
8. Investigate in-service product failures and produce failure analysis reports.

Experience in reciprocating engine design is ideal; however, candidates with powertrain experience or backgrounds in rotating equipment such as pumps or turbines are also encouraged to apply.

Experience with AutoCAD Inventor is desirable but not essential.
