Job description

We are looking for a driven and ambitious individual to join our Democratic Services team at Warwickshire County Council.

About the Team

Working within Legal and Governance, you will report to the Democratic Services Manager to deliver a wide-ranging and complex service, responsible for the compliant, robust and innovative delivery of our Democratic Service function. You will be at the forefront of ensuring we maintain our reputation for solid governance.

About the Role

You will deliver outstanding democratic and governance support to members, senior officers and colleagues. This will ensure the continued high standards of our Democratic Services team and ongoing compliance with all regulatory and statutory requirements within those areas. You will also play an active role as part of the wider Legal and Governance team, working in partnership with colleagues to innovate our service delivery capabilities.

You will need expert problem-solving skills and the ability to work quickly and accurately under pressure whilst collaborating with our friendly and supportive team of professionals. You will also need to be willing to learn and adapt to the challenging, ever-changing public sector legal environment.

In terms of experience, you should have a demonstrable track record of delivering governance support with clarity and confidence and in a fast-paced and innovative public sector environment. You must have the skills needed to support the Democratic Services Manager to develop and lead the team, be willing to work in accordance with the Council’s Values and Behaviours and have experience of advising and supporting in a senior capacity in relation to Democratic Services and Scrutiny functions.

A knowledge of electoral law and experience of managing elections will be an advantage.
