Job description

Help Warwickshire become more resilient by delivering practical solutions that deliver affordable, locally led energy solutions, tackle fuel poverty, strengthen climate resilience and help communities benefit from national programmes such as the Warm Homes Plan and Local Power Plan.

About the Organisation

Warwickshire County Council is a top performing two tier authority with a reputation for innovation and efficiency. If you can match our ambition to drive Warwickshire County Council forward we would like to hear from you.

About the Team and the Role

We are looking for an experienced and influential professional to lead Warwickshire County Council’s work on energy and climate adaptation. As the Council’s subject matter expert, you will help shape and deliver key strategies. The role is broad and practical, spanning strategic energy planning, partnership development and projects that address affordability, fuel poverty, resilience and local energy delivery.

There is significant delivery ahead. You will help turn national policy and funding opportunities into practical local programmes that reduce bills, improve energy resilience and support wider social, environmental and economic benefits across Warwickshire.

You will provide strategic leadership, technical advice and coordination across a diverse portfolio of energy projects. You will be a self-starter, innovative and confident using data and evidence to understand local need, identify opportunities, inform decisions and develop strong business cases. You will also support funding applications, including bids to government and other funders, helping to move ideas from concept to delivery.

Partnership work will be central to your success. You will work with senior leaders, elected Members, delivery teams, schools, residents, community groups, businesses, statutory partners, voluntary sector organisations and other local authorities, learning from others and sharing good practice as the energy landscape evolves. We are seeking someone with management-level experience of energy projects or programmes, strong strategic and relationship management skills, and the resilience to work through change and ambiguity while keeping delivery moving.
