Join our Wheelchair Service and play a vital role in helping people maintain their independence, mobility, and quality of life. As a Wheelchair Repair, Maintenance and Stock Control Technician, you will provide a responsive and high-quality service directly to patients across Swindon and Wiltshire, ensuring they have safe, reliable equipment that supports their daily lives.
About the Role
We are looking for a motivated and practical individual to join our Wheelchair Service team. Working both independently and alongside Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists and Rehabilitation Engineers, you will deliver, collect, maintain and repair wheelchairs and associated equipment for patients across Swindon, Wiltshire and occasionally neighbouring areas.
This is a varied and rewarding role requiring excellent technical skills, strong organisational abilities and a commitment to delivering outstanding patient-focused service. You will also support stock management activities, workshop preparation and participate in the emergency on-call rota.

Deliver, collect, commission, maintain and repair a range of manual and powered wheelchairs and associated equipment, ensuring patients receive safe, reliable mobility solutions.
Conduct planned preventative maintenance, fault diagnosis and repairs in both workshop and community settings, including patients' homes, schools, clinics and hospitals.
Configure, programme and adapt powered wheelchairs and specialist equipment, including fitting bespoke modifications, accessories and postural support systems to meet individual patient needs.
Work collaboratively with Wheelchair Therapists, Rehabilitation Engineers and other clinical colleagues to resolve technical issues and support patient assessments, treatment plans and equipment provision.
Provide clear advice, demonstrations and training to patients, carers and families on the safe and effective use of wheelchairs and associated equipment.
Manage stock and equipment inventories, including ordering parts, maintaining stock levels, assessing returned equipment for reuse or disposal, and supporting workshop operations.
Maintain accurate records, service documentation and technical reports, ensuring all work is completed in accordance with service standards, infection prevention protocols and regulatory requirements.
Participate in the Duty Technician and emergency on-call rotas, prioritising workload effectively while delivering a responsive, high-quality service to patients and clinical teams.
