Job Description:

We’re looking for an individual with experience in UK and/or global rates markets to join the Rates and Investments team. The candidate should be a self-learner and self-starter, capable of operating independently and as part of a team. Responsibilities include managing a portfolio of government and SSA bonds, and related derivatives across GBP, USD, EUR, CAD, and JPY, to optimize the Liquid Asset Buffer.

This role offers a high-profile opportunity to be part of a successful team making meaningful investment decisions. It involves supporting various sub-desks within Rates & Investments, providing diverse market exposure.

Nationwide promotes hybrid working, combining office presence with home working. The role requires at least two days per week at the London office.

Key Responsibilities:

• React to live market events and collaborate on projects with credit, liquidity, and operations teams.
• Assess and execute market opportunities, analyzing news and data for impact on the portfolio.
• Represent the Society externally and internally, managing relationships and communicating effectively.
• Operate within a control framework, optimize workflows, and solve complex issues.
• Leverage market expertise and contribute to broader Treasury strategies.

About You:

• Experience in government and/or SSA bonds, especially asset swaps.
• Ability to provide market commentary verbally and in writing.
• Self-motivated with the ability to understand complex macros.
• Proven problem-solving and workflow optimization skills.
• Strong relationship management and communication skills.
• Advanced Excel skills; coding knowledge is beneficial.
• Ability to work calmly in a fast-paced, risk-controlled environment.
• Knowledge of banking balance sheets, liquidity risk, and analysis.
• Proficiency with Bloomberg.
