Job summary

Referment is seeking a skilled Database Administrator to own and operate the production database estate underpinning live trading and operational systems for a regulated European stock exchange operator. You will manage MySQL, PostgreSQL, QuestDB, Dolt, Redis and Elasticsearch; implement backups, upgrades, monitoring with Grafana, and work with developers on schema changes and performance tuning.

Qualifications

• Proven hands-on DBA experience in a fast-paced production environment, ideally in financial services or a regulated setting.
• Strong MySQL knowledge: installation, replication, tuning and user management.
• Strong PostgreSQL working knowledge (query planning, indexing, roles, connections).
• Backup and restore experience across MySQL and PostgreSQL, including point-in-time recovery.

Responsibilities

• Administer, monitor and maintain the production database estate supporting engineering and operations teams.
• Plan upgrades and migrations with minimal production disruption; design and test backup/restore against recovery objectives.
• Collaborate with developers on schema changes, query optimization and index design; manage database users and permissions.
• Integrate database metrics/logs into the monitoring stack (Grafana dashboards) and act as the escalation point for database issues.
