Job summary

Spence in Glasgow is seeking a Principal Pensions Administrator to lead complex Defined Benefit pension administration. You’ll act as the main contact for trustees and advisers, ensuring precision, compliance, and exceptional client service across schemes.

You’ll own entire schemes, authorise complex cases, attend trustee meetings, present reports, and lead exercises like GMP equalisation, buy-ins and buyouts.

Qualifications

• At least 8 years’ experience in DB pension administration.
• In-depth knowledge of UK pensions legislation, regulation, and codes of practice.
• Experience acting as lead contact for trustees and advisers.
• Strong client relationship skills and participation in trustee meetings.
• Experience leading scheme-wide projects (e.g. GMP equalisation, buy-ins, buyouts).
• Ability to mentor junior and senior colleagues.
• Excellent organisational and prioritisation skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead on complex DB pension administration and authorise intricate cases.
• Attend trustee meetings and present reports to stakeholders.
• Lead major projects such as GMP equalisation, buy-ins, buyouts or scheme wind-ups.
