Job summary

Field Sales Solutions is seeking a Senior Database Engineer for its Business Intelligence team in Thame. Hybrid role, with at least one day weekly at Head Office.

Salary around £50K plus benefits, with opportunities to work on data pipelines, ETL, and Azure Data Factory integrations for internal and partner reporting. Qualifications

• Strong experience developing in SQL from creating database models from scratch.
• Solid understanding of Data Warehousing (star schema, fact/dimension design).
• Expert in writing efficient T-SQL code.
• Proficient in query optimization, partitioning and index design.
• Good data cleansing and preparation skills.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
• Ability to collaborate across the BI team.
• Experience designing Azure Data Factory data pipelines.
• Confident communicator with non-technical stakeholders.
• Highly organized, able to manage workload independently.
• Understanding how SQL feeds Power BI
• Experience with Dev-ops and Source control
• Translating business questions into SQL
• Data engineering for machine learning modelling
• Able to build solutions from ingestion to presentation
• Good practice with exception handling
• Understanding of vectoring data

Responsibilities

• Build and Refine queries, CTE’s, stored procedures, views and functions
• Create and Maintain tables, indexes, constraints, schemas and triggers
• Diagnose slow queries using execution plans, cardinality estimates, IO and wait stats
• Design optimized queries for CPU, IO and memory usage, reducing locking.
• Checking job schedules, ETL Pipelines and data freshness
• Build and Maintain ingestion pipelines
• Enforce constraints, referential integrity and validation rules
• Support compliance requirements
• Document data pipelines, schemas, stored procedures, data flows and standards

In return for joining us as a Senior Database Engineer in our Business Intelligence department, we can offer you a salary of £50K + benefits.

Location: Hybrid, minimum of 1 day per week in the Head Office, Thame

What we are looking for in our Senior Database Engineer

We’re looking for an ambitious and skilled database engineer to join our Business Intelligence function and play a key role in architecting, maintaining and troubleshooting internal database structures. You’ll be part of the Database team, working closely with the reporting and QA teams to deliver top level data outputs for internal and external facing reporting, including 3rd party integrations.

Responsibilities:

• Build and Refine queries, CTE’s, stored procedures, views and functions
