Senior Database Administrator (DBA) - MySQL

Location

Oxford – Flexible/Remote

The company serves a wide range of clients, from independent gaming studios to the world’s largest online casinos, with teams across the UK, Canada, South Africa, and China.

Job Responsibilities

1. Design, build, implement, manage, and maintain MySQL databases in a Linux environment.
2. Implement and oversee database backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies.
3. Monitor database performance, identify issues, and optimize solutions.
4. Collaborate with development teams to design and optimize database schemas, queries, and indexes.
5. Stay updated with the latest industry trends and technologies related to MySQL and database management.

Team and Work Environment

The team comprises around 40 members across IT, operating a flat structure. They typically work in the office once a month or quarter.

Ideal Candidate Skills

• Strong experience with MySQL in a DBA capacity.
• Experience with other database systems such as PostgreSQL, Oracle, MS SQL.
• Understanding of SQL Server, preferably with experience porting to MySQL.
• Experience with high availability solutions like clustering, replication, and failover.
• Knowledge of scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash) for automation is a plus.
