Job Description

We are currently seeking a skilled Senior Data Specialist to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for building, maintaining and enhancing our data architecture, processes and solutions, and supporting internal and external stakeholders in their data analysis and visualisation requirements.

This role will take responsibility for the maintenance and support of existing data services, delivery of new projects relating to the enhancement or expansion of our services, and partnership of our internal stakeholders in their data requirements. Working within the Data & Analytics Team as part of the Solutions & Technology function, you will work to understand the internal and external stakeholder data needs and how these can be met.

You will have the confidence to challenge assumptions, influence decision-making, and navigate ambiguity while setting expectations of the achievable outcomes. This role will report into the Head of Data and will be instrumental in supporting the delivery of the organisation data strategy, driving adoption of modern data practices and governance across the organisation. As well as your subject matter expertise in this role you will ideally have experience of working with global organisations in ESG, Government, Regulatory or the Financial Markets industry. The work will be based in London.

Core Responsibilities
  • Provide technical support for existing data platforms, pipelines and outputs, particularly external-facing tools for signatory reporting on RI practices.
  • Lead design and engineering activities on datasets and pipelines to support and enhance internal tools for data analysis and management intelligence.
  • Optimise data platforms to ensure high data quality, reliability and performance, while identifying opportunities for cost-efficiencies.
  • Support the implementation of a new data lakehouse architecture, integrating data from a variety of internal and external platforms, and conduct transformation and enrichment, in preparation for visualisation and analysis.
  • Support data modelling activities that enable the integration of multiple connected data sources, unlocking insights and opportunities around advanced analytics.

Insights and Analysis

  • Lead on the design and build of data visualisations, reports and dashboards that enable end users to meet their reporting and analysis needs using a variety of tools.
  • Support and critique analysis and insights generated within the business.

Data Governance

  • Support the monitoring of data governance policies and identify opportunities to automate controls and detection of breaches.
  • Monitor and audit user access and permissions, addressing any irregularities or security breaches.

Business Partnering

  • Collaborate with colleagues to understand data requirements around access, automation, analysis and presentation.
  • Document requirements, support project management, and lead on designs for new or enhanced data solutions.
  • Provide occasional training and coaching to users in reporting, data manipulation, visualisation, and analysis, promoting best practises in use of data and tools.
Person Specification
  • Demonstrable experience of data engineering within complex environments using SQL and Python, including performance optimisation.
  • Knowledge of modern data architectures and patterns, with demonstrable experience within data lakehouse architectures.
  • Experience of data engineering and orchestration in Databricks using PySpark, SQL, and DLT.
  • Understanding of data governance and security best-practice, with an appreciation of data privacy, data retention and user-access policies.
  • Good communication skills, both verbal and written; experienced in translating technical topics for non-technical audiences.
  • The ability to foster an inclusive working environment.
  • Experience of API integrations and their authentication models, including OAuth
  • Experience innovating in a data function, particularly around AI, LLMs and advanced analytics.
  • Experience in an Azure cloud environment, particularly Azure Data Factory
  • Experience of CI/CD in Databricks using DABs and GitHub Actions.

We particularly welcome candidates from under-represented groups, including Black, Asian, and other People of Colour, those with visible or non-visible disabilities, LGBTQ+ candidates and those who are neurodivergent.

The PRI is committed to offering flexibility to our employees, both formal (e.g. part-time work) and informal (e.g. a shift in hours to accommodate caring responsibilities). Please talk to us about how we could make this role flexible for you.
