Job summary

LexisNexis Intellectual Property Solutions seeks a Data Scientist III to help design and validate AI-driven capabilities within Protégé for PatentSight. You will leverage NLP, LLMs, and retrieval strategies to solve complex IP tasks and drive experimentation, collaborating with engineers to scale validated approaches into customer-facing solutions.

You will partner with product and IP experts to translate insights into actionable business impact and ensure product alignment with user needs.

Qualifications

• Degree in a quantitative or technical field (Statistics, Computer Science, Mathematics).
• Strong experience in machine learning, NLP, and LLM-based modeling.
• Experience designing and running experiments, including model evaluation and iteration.
• Strong coding skills in Python.
• Experience with generative AI techniques (prompt engineering, RAG).
• Experience designing and evaluating hybrid search using embeddings and vector databases.
• Experience designing agentic workflows with agent frameworks (Google ADK, LangChain, LangGraph, AutoGen).
• Proficiency in data analysis tools.
• Strong foundation in statistics and large-scale text processing.

Responsibilities

• Develop NLP, LLM, and generative AI approaches for Protégé in PatentSight.
• Define agentic workflows and reasoning strategies for multi-step IP tasks.
• Develop retrieval strategies, including hybrid search, and evaluation metrics.
• Analyze large-scale IP datasets to extract insights and improve model performance.
• Translate experimental results into clear product recommendations and business impact.
• Collaborate with product, IP experts, and engineers to align solutions with user needs.
