LexisNexis Intellectual Property Solutions (LNIP) invites applications for a Senior Data Scientist I. The role focuses on designing and validating AI-driven capabilities within Protégé for PatentSight, leveraging NLP, LLMs, and RAG to solve complex IP workflows.

You will drive experimentation, modeling, and evaluation, collaborating with engineers to translate validated approaches into scalable, customer-facing solutions. Strong Python skills and hybrid search expertise are essential.

Qualifications

• Degree in a quantitative or technical field.
• Strong experience in machine learning, NLP, and LLM-based modeling.
• Strong experience designing and running experiments, including evaluation.
• Strong coding skills in Python.
• Experience with hybrid search (semantic + lexical) using embeddings.

Responsibilities

• Develop NLP, LLM, and generative AI approaches (e.g., RAG, prompts).
• Define agentic workflows and reasoning strategies for multi-step IP tasks.
• Develop retrieval strategies and evaluation metrics (relevance, ranking).
• Analyze large-scale IP datasets to improve model performance.
• Translate experimental results into product recommendations and business impact.
• Collaborate with product, IP experts, and engineers to align solutions with user needs.
