Job summary

M&G is seeking a Head of Data Engineering to shape a modern, governed data platform in London and to lead a growing team across the UK and India. You will own ingestion, transformation and delivery of data, building data products for analytics, reporting and AI use cases.

The role emphasizes hands-on data platform delivery, strong governance, and a shift from pipelines to reusable data products, with a focus on security, privacy and cost efficiency.

Qualifications

• Extensive data engineering leadership experience in Asset Management or Financial Services.
• Hands-on Snowflake platform implementation.
• Deep knowledge of medallion and lakehouse architectures.
• Experience delivering data products with AI/analytics.
• Experience embedding data governance tooling into delivery.
• Strong understanding of cloud security and data privacy requirements.
• Proven ability to lead offshore engineering teams.
• Experience with data mesh or hub-and-spoke operating models.
• Good understanding of investment data and related domains.
• Experience leading complex data platform migrations while maintaining service continuity.

Responsibilities

• Shape a modern data platform on a Snowflake-centric architecture with medallion layers.
• Deliver governed, trusted data products with data contracts and lineage.
• Build and lead a high-performing data engineering team across the UK and India.
• Build AI-ready data capabilities and partner with AI/Analytics teams.
• Simplify legacy platforms by migrating to a unified data platform and reducing debt.
