Job summary

Burberry is seeking a Data Platform Architect to own the enterprise data platform architecture, ensuring performance, security, and cost efficiency. You will set standards, governance, and patterns across ingestion, modeling, and access control, guiding cross-functional squads and aligning with enterprise strategy.

The role requires extensive experience in Databricks, SAP Datasphere and related Lakehouse technologies, with a focus on scalable, secure data platforms and MLOps readiness.

Qualifications

• 7-10+ years in data platform architecture, data engineering, or cloud data infrastructure.
• Deep expertise in Databricks (Unity Catalog, Delta Lake, Spark, Databricks SQL).
• Strong understanding of cloud-native architecture, cost models, and CI/CD pipelines.

Responsibilities

• Design and maintain the platform's technical architecture (compute/storage, ingestion, access control).
• Define architectural standards and guardrails, environment management and deployment pipelines.
• Own platform cost modelling and FinOps governance with cost allocation patterns.
• Align with Data Senior Solution Architect and Data Solution Architects to ensure consistency with enterprise data architecture.
• Translate architectural direction into practical guidance for Data Platform Engineers and Data Engineers.
• Define data ingestion architecture for batch, micro-batch and streaming.
• Provide input to data squads for complex data products and support Data Engineers.
