Job summary

Ryft Pay Ltd in Manchester is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to own data after ingestion, building CDC and event-driven pipelines that produce a clean bronze layer for analytics. You’ll work hands-on with AWS (S3, RDS Postgres), Dagster, dbt, and Superset, partnering with the Data Lead and Analytics Lead in a build-heavy first year.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience building production data platforms.
• Deep AWS expertise across S3, IAM, networking, and ingestion/messaging services.
• Hands-on change data capture and event-driven ingestion knowledge.
• Strong Python and SQL for cloud data warehouses.
• Experience with orchestration tools (Dagster/Airflow).
• Experience running what you built and handling incidents.

Responsibilities

• Build the ingestion layer: Capture change streams off our transactional stores into S3 and domain events for the warehouse.
• Own the bronze layer: Land data reliably with controlled latency and deliberate schema evolution.
• Hold the contract at the boundary: Define and enforce schema changes between write and read sides.
• Deliver the warehouse migration: Lead migration off Postgres end-to-end.
• Run what you build: Manage deployments, observability, cost, and reliability.
