Job summary

Nuffield Health is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to own a defined area of the data platform, lead end-to-end delivery and mentor engineers. The role focuses on robust ingestion and transformation using Snowflake, dbt and Azure, within a distributed leadership model.

You will collaborate with product owners, architects and third-party suppliers to deliver scalable data solutions that are observable and compliant with enterprise standards.

Qualifications

• Extensive hands-on data engineering across ingestion, modelling and warehousing.
• Strong SQL and relational design skills for BI support.
• Experience with ETL/ELT tools and cloud data platforms.
• Ownership mindset: deliver initiatives with stakeholde rs and mentor teammates.
• Excellent communication, translating complex concepts to technical and non‑technical audiences.

Responsibilities

• Own a defined area of the data platform, setting standards and tooling.
• Document work to enable knowledge transfer across the team.
• Lead end-to-end delivery of initiatives with cross-functional teams.
• Line manage engineers and align with delivery managers and architects.
• Design, build and operate robust data ingestion, transformation on Snowflake/dbt/Azure.
• Ensure solutions are observable and supportable, contributing to incident management.
• Coach mid-level engineers to grow into leadership roles.
• Contribute to roadmap, BAU planning and engineering maturity.
