Job summary

Pacific Life Re is expanding its Divisional Data Team to build an enterprise data platform and governance. The Senior Data Engineer will define and deliver data pipelines, manage transformations, and ensure reporting outputs meet internal needs across geographies.

Role involves collaboration with the DDT, development of a data warehouse, quality improvements, and mentoring teammates while embracing innovation and best practices.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a SQL/PLSQL developer.
• Extensive experience with Snowflake/Redshift/BigQuery/Azure SQL databases.
• Familiarity with ETL tools (Matillion, SNP Glue, Fivetran, Informatica).
• Knowledge of data modeling, data curation and orchestration.
• Experience with BI tools such as PowerBI is a plus.
• Strong scripting (shell) abilities and automation mindset.
• Experience with Azure DevOps is a plus.
• Knowledge of reinsurance/insurance concepts is beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Assist the data engineering manager with delivery of data engineering activities.
• Create and review technical design specifications.
• Implement, test, maintain and support data software per specs.
• Improve system quality by identifying issues and standardizing procedures.
• Collaborate with team to implement design and architecture reviews.
• Provide technical support to internal customers and stakeholders.
• Mentor junior developers and drive best practices.
