Job summary

Reed is seeking a Senior Data Engineer in the United Kingdom (Guildford area) to drive the design, development, and enhancement of our modern data platform. You will build scalable pipelines, integrate diverse data sources, and work with the latest Microsoft technologies to support critical business functions.

You will collaborate with analysts, developers, and stakeholders to deliver high-quality data solutions, while mentoring junior team members and helping shape the data estate's future

Qualifications

• Minimum senior-level data engineering experience in enterprise-scale environments.
• Hands-on with Microsoft Fabric and Azure data services.
• Strong Python or PySpark coding skills.
• Familiarity with data warehousing and lakehouse concepts.
• Experience with CI/CD and DevOps practices.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management.

The Role

As a Senior Data Engineer, you'll be responsible for developing and maintaining scalable data platforms, pipelines, and integrations that support critical business functions. You'll work closely with stakeholders across the business to deliver reliable, high-quality data solutions while helping shape the future direction of the data estate.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, build, and optimise data pipelines and ETL/ELT processes
• Work with structured and unstructured data from a variety of sources
• Support the development of data warehouses, lakehouses, and analytical platforms
• Collaborate with data analysts, developers, and business stakeholders
• Ensure data quality, governance, security, and performance best practices are followed
• Contribute to architectural decisions and continuous improvement initiatives
• Mentor junior team members where appropriate
• Strong commercial experience as a Data Engineer
• Hands-on experience with Microsoft Fabric (essential)
• Experience working within Azure data environments
• Experience with Python and/or PySpark
• Knowledge of Azure Synapse Analytics and Azure Data Factory
• Experience building and maintaining data pipelines and data integration solutions
• Understanding of modern data warehousing and lakehouse concepts
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
• CI/CD and DevOps practices
