Job summary

Ten11 Management Limited is seeking an experienced Shift Technician / Deputy Data Centre Lead for a major financial-services data centre in Croydon. The role combines senior hands-on engineering with leadership responsibilities as the 2IC, ensuring safe, reliable operation of critical infrastructure.

The ideal candidate holds HVAP experience and strong electrical/mechanical skills across HV/LV systems, UPS, generators and cooling.

Qualifications

• HVAP / HV Authorised Person experience is essential.
• Strong electrical engineering background with relevant technical qualifications.
• Experience within data centres or mission-critical facilities.
• Strong knowledge of HV/LV systems, UPS, generators and switchgear.
• Good understanding of HVAC and critical cooling systems.
• Experience as a Senior Shift Engineer / Lead Technician is desirable.
• Capable of acting as technical escalation during incidents.
• RAMS, permits, isolations and safe systems of work.
• Ability to maintain uptime and resilience in a live facility.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain critical electrical and mechanical infrastructure within a live data centre.
• Act as HV Authorised Person (HVAP) for HV switching, isolations and safe systems of work.
• Operate as the 2IC within the engineering team and support the site's leadership.
• Provide technical guidance and support to shift engineers.
• Coordinate specialist subcontractors and engineering activities.
• Carry out planned and reactive maintenance across HV/LV distribution, UPS, generators, switchgear, cooling, CRAC/CRAH, and BMS.
• Respond to alarms, incidents and equipment failures in a mission-critical environment.
• Manage RAMS, permits, isolations and safe systems of work.
• Support incident investigations and technical reporting.
• Ensure activities meet H&S and compliance standards.
• Support continuous improvement across site operations.
