Job summary

Datacenter People are seeking a Principal Mechanical Engineer - Data Centers to lead mechanical strategy across international projects, with emphasis on HVAC and thermal management for large-scale facilities.

You will translate customer requirements into practical, resilient designs and work with a small multidisciplinary team from concept through commissioning. Data center experience and BIM tools are highly valued.

Qualifications

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services is required
• Experience in data center or mission-critical facilities preferred
• Proficient in design documentation and specifications
• Strong grasp of resilience and redundancy in critical environments
• Experience coordinating with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders
• Excellent client-facing communication skills

Responsibilities

• Develop mechanical and cooling strategies for large-scale data center projects
• Produce concept and schematic mechanical designs and Basis of Design documentation
• Design and evaluate chilled-water, airside, hydronic and heat-rejection systems
• Support integration of liquid cooling and high-density compute environments
• Develop specifications, calculations, equipment schedules and technical reports
• Assess mechanical architectures for resilience, efficiency, sustainability, CapEx and OpEx
• Review designs against customer and hyperscaler requirements
• Coordinate mechanical infrastructure with electrical, controls/BMS and wider building systems
• Manage and review work by external consultants and contractors
• Provide input into tenders and evaluate contractor/vendor submissions
• Support data center master planning, feasibility studies and technical due diligence
• Provide engineering support during construction and commissioning
• Work with customers, contractors, consultants and technology vendors
• Identify value-engineering and energy-efficiency opportunities
